They will listen to your concerns and needs before creating your unique full-mouth restoration treatment plan.

Best Candidates

Full-mouth reconstruction may be needed if you have lost a few teeth or have several teeth with big fillings that are ready for replacement. You may also have teeth with significant decay or teeth that are broken, cracked, or severely worn down due to bruxism (chronic teeth grinding). You might have dental conditions or a genetic disorder such as ectodermal dysplasia (teeth absent since birth), amelogenesis imperfecta (very small teeth), or dentinogenesis imperfecta (translucent or discolored teeth), which all require extensive restoration. You may want to replace old dental crowns, or just want to improve your mouth for better health or comfort. In more advanced cases, your degraded teeth and gums may have created sunken cheeks or another visible facial deformity. A full-mouth reconstruction can rejuvenate the entire face when the appropriate amount of teeth are in your mouth.

What To Expect

After a thorough exam of your teeth, gums, and bite, our Dental Health team may recommend full-mouth reconstruction. Your unique treatment plan will be created based on the state of your teeth, gum tissue, temporomandibular (TMJ) joints, jaw muscles, and bite. Our team will go over your treatment and sedation options, and our own recommendations during your consultation to ensure your treatment plan fits your needs and goals. Once your treatment plan is created, we will go over what to expect during your full-mouth reconstruction and schedule your appointments. In general, a full-mouth reconstruction will take several visits to Dental Health. Our team will plan your procedures with time in between to allow your mouth to heal before the next step is taken.

Dr Ellison's office is the happiest and friendlyest dental practice I've ever had in my 81 years. I've had all sorts of dental work done at her practice, implants, crowns, extractions and general exams and cleaning. The med techs that assist in all procedures are well educated and trained well. At 81, I wasn't sure about having another implant so I asked Dr Ellison and we had a 20 minute chat to help me with my decision. She went over X-rays and we discussed pros and cons and with her help decided to have an extraction instead of a transplant since it was a tooth in the background and would not be seen when smiling and would not interfere with chewing. At 81 I thought this was a smart choice. Dr Ellison is so pleasant, friendly and professional all at the same time. Same with her entire staff right up to the front desk who are also very helpful in answering questions. I can recommend this dental office wholeheartedly without hesitation.

Recovery

After each procedure in your full-mouth reconstruction treatment plan, our team will explain what to expect and how to care for your mouth. We may prescribe antibiotics or pain medication that should be filled before your procedure and taken as directed. You may experience some discomfort or swelling after certain procedures, like implant placement that may make it difficult to chew, so a liquid or soft food diet may be most appropriate for you. Once your full-mouth reconstruction is complete, you should maintain your restored oral health with proper brushing and flossing at home. Annual dental exams and bi-annual cleanings at Dental Health are also important. During your exams, our team can monitor the health of your restorations, natural teeth, gums, and jawbone.
